Val Hudson, founder of The Family Sleep Coach

Hi, I’m Val Hudson, founder of The Family Sleep Coach — Certified Pediatric Sleep Consultant, Newborn Care Specialist, and mom of three, including a set of twins.

My passion for sleep support began when I became a first-time mom to twins and quickly realized just how overwhelming infant sleep advice can be. I immersed myself in evidence-based sleep education, learned how to build healthy sleep foundations from the very beginning, and saw firsthand how life-changing quality sleep can be for an entire family. That experience sparked what has now become years of hands-on work supporting families through newborn sleep, overnight care, sleep training, schedules, regressions, travel, transitions, toddler boundaries, and everything in between.

Today, I work with families across the country through virtual coaching, in-home sleep training, and overnight newborn care support. I’ve helped families navigate sleep challenges ranging from frequent night wakings and short naps to room sharing, daycare transitions, feeding changes, toddler sleep struggles, regressions, travel, illness, multiples, and medically complex sleep situations. My approach combines evidence-based sleep science with individualized support that truly meets families where they are. There is no one-size-fits-all method here. I believe parents deserve guidance that feels supportive, realistic, and aligned with their goals and parenting style.

What sets my work apart is the level of support and personalization I provide. I don’t just hand over a schedule and disappear. I walk alongside families through the process, helping them understand why sleep challenges are happening, how to confidently respond, and how to build sustainable sleep habits that continue long after our time together. Whether I’m spending nights in a client’s home, supporting a newborn family overnight, or coaching virtually through difficult regressions and transitions, my goal is always the same: helping families feel rested, confident, and supported.

Families often tell me they appreciate that I bring both expertise and empathy into my work. As a mom myself, I understand how exhausting sleep deprivation can be and how emotionally heavy sleep struggles often feel. My role is not only to help your child sleep better, but to help you feel calmer, more confident, and more supported along the way.

I work with parents, caregivers, foster and adoptive families, and children ranging from newborn through elementary age. Whether you’re preparing for life with a newborn, struggling through hourly wake-ups, transitioning out of swaddles or cribs, navigating toddler bedtime battles, or simply wanting more predictability in your child’s sleep, I’m here to help.

I’m so glad you’re here, and I’d love to support your family.
